Training for an Ironman?  Thinking about it?

The 70.3 and 140.6 distances are events you must respect – you can’t fake it on race day. Whether your goal is to simply get to the finish line, set a personal best or qualify for Kona, you have to dedicate yourself to your training and to the event. You must be prepared physically and mentally and you certainly don’t want to leave anything to chance.

The Ironman is a unique event in that it challenges an athlete not only on race day but throughout the entire training process. Total Intensity Sports prepares each of its long course athletes with a uniquely designed program that takes a number of factors into consideration – their fitness history, potential injury risks, amount of training time, work and family commitments and personal motivations for doing the Ironman. It’s all important on the journey towards becoming an Ironman.

There are so many things that can happen on race day in a long course event, not to mention all the things that can happen while you are training for one. Your training plan needs to be able to adapt to you and all of the things that happen along the way – the expected and unexpected. We do this for you through continual contact with your coach which increases as race day approaches. We don’t use cookie-cutter training plans. We create personalized plans tailored to your fitness level, goals and every day life.

We have helped more than 50 athletes train and complete Ironman distance events at every major race in North America as well as some in Central America and Europe.

Long Course Group Training
We typically have at least fifteen or more athletes training locally in Sacramento year-round for Ironman distance events and/or the 70.3 distance. This means we have a solid group of athletes you can train with and use as support along the way.  We also organize specific long course group training sessions within our group training program.

Our long course training programs are designed for athletes interested in receiving a personalized coaching plan. We strongly recommend a full 12-month program to allow for adequate base training and strength training, however we also have options for 6 and 9 months.

ALL of our Long Course Programs Include
          • Individual Consultation and Program Kickoff
               – Fitness History Evaluation, Personal Goal Assessment, Initial Program Set-up
          • Weekly Workout Schedules using TrainingPeaks
          • Strength and Core Conditioning Program
          • Online monthly progress reviews with your coach
          • Unlimited email and phone contact with your coach
          • Additional guidance on race preparation and nutrition, injury prevention and motivation
          • Unlimited Group Training
